CULTURAL CHRISTIANITY
John 17:16 “ They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”
It seems as though the church has forgotten it’s distinction. We are living in a time in
the American church when our distinctiveness as a people for the Lord is being erased.
We have become so impacted by this culture that sometimes it is difficult to know
the difference between the church and the culture. Our values are being eroded by the
pressure of political correctness and a changing philosophy of life. Chritstian television
for example presents a host of ministries whose emphasis seems to be on gaining
monetary success. People seem to be more interested in how to get their blessing than
how to be a blessing. From the obvious, that is to the real Christians, sin of ordaining
practicing homosexuals to a soft if not accommodating stand on abortion and almost
universal acceptance of divorce and remarriage we can see how we are little different
from the world. I John 2:15 says, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If
anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him.”
